Alfalfa’s positive effects on memory seem to be particularly strong in children and teens. The chlorophyll content of this plants makes it a powerful antioxidant. A variety of studies have shown that its sprouts contain compounds that stimulate the production of the kind of brain cells, called neurons, that are responsible for the formation of memory.
In fact, this plant has been used long ago as a kind of herbal “memory pill” or “antioxidant” for those who want to slow down the aging process. There is no evidence, however, that this plant sprays or pills have any effect on the diminishing function of the human brain and nervous system as we age. For a healthy diet and lifestyle, it is probably better to just use alfalfa sprouts as a natural dietary supplement.
